Hubby so graciously snapped this pic of me working my triceps (aka weakest muscle in my body lol)
Ok… maybe thats a teeny lie. Big (aka heavy) weights to me are not necessarily what someone else (aka my husband) would consider to be heavy… but to each his own right? The reason I like weights is because I HATE running. I loathe it. Even at my most physically fit I detested it. I know that its good for me but my body was just not built for running. Enter weightlifting.
Why weightlifting you ask? Because although strength training won’t burn as many calories in one session as a good run.. ahem jog, it still has other awesome benefits.
For example, weight training is more effective than cardio at building muscle, and muscle burns more calories at rest than some other tissues, including fat. Therefore, since one of my main goals is increasing my metabolism, building muscle is key!
Bodybuilding.com
While it sounds intimidating, bodybuilding.com is a great resource for all things training related. I have found terrific articles and programs on the website over the past 4 or so years. My absolute favorite however is their app Bodyspace. I use this app whenever I’m strength training at the gym.

I love the ability to track all my sets as well as compare them to previous workouts (seen here is part of the James Grage Rewired 9 week program). Especially handy are the excersize guides. When I come across a move that I’m not familiar with I can just look it up right within my workout. Typically I can even watch a video of how to do the move correctly- which keeps me from looking like a fool more often than not 😉
Most importantly, every time I’ve used this app (and put in the work) I’ve seen great results! If you end up giving it a try I would love to hear about it- Leave a comment below or follow me on instagram 🙂
